Today morning, social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was filled with posts about login problems, error messages, and delays in updating data.

“AIS and TIS is not working since last night. @IncomeTaxIndia has gone for an early weekend break,” tweeted CA Himank Singla.

Users shared different issues, but with a common theme: the system is not working.

One user said: “My PAN number was given to someone else. A loan I didn’t take is showing under my account. I complained to the bank, and they said it’s the Income Tax Department’s fault.

Another user tweeted, “I’m getting alert messages for a PAN that’s not mine. Please unlink it from my mobile number.”

Chartered Accountant Ruchita Vaghani also said the site wasn’t working the day before. Others pointed out how this has affected their plans, especially with advance tax payments due soon.

The official @IncomeTaxIndia account did respond to some of the posts. They asked users to email their details or call the support number. But several people said they didn’t receive a proper follow-up or solution.

“They told me to email but no one replied,” said one user.

In replies, the department claimed the portal is working and advised people to clear their browser cache. But this did not solve the real issues, especially problems with AIS and TIS data.

Some users believe the issues are due to data not being updated on time. CA Loganathan tweeted:

“They might be syncing data between servers. The Q4 data wasn’t updated in AIS/TIS until yesterday. Hopefully, it’ll be fixed next week.”

With many people needing to file returns and pay advance tax soon, the pressure is on the Income Tax Department to fix these issues quickly. Until then, users are stuck, waiting for their accounts to work and their data to show up.

One user joked:

“Happy vacation, dear @IncomeTaxIndia. Hope you come back on Monday and fix everything.”
