A 46-year-old auditor, identified as Robert, died on Thursday night after a physical altercation outside the Tiruvallur All Women Police Station. Police had summoned Robert and the families of both Robert and a woman who had filed a complaint against him for harassment. The woman, who worked in the same building as Robert but for a different company, had accused him of making lewd comments despite prior warnings. According to reports, both parties reached a compromise mediated by the police. Robert was issued a warning and made to sign a written undertaking promising to cease all forms of harassment.
However, upon exiting the station, Robert was confronted by the woman’s 23-year-old brother, Mouli, who had not been present during the mediation. An argument ensued, leading to Mouli allegedly punching Robert three times in the head.
Robert collapsed and suffered bleeding from his mouth and nose. Though rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. An autopsy is scheduled at the Thiruvallur Government Hospital. Mouli, employed at a private company near Sriperumbudur, has been arrested by the Thiruvallur town police and remanded in judicial custody. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
